Dr. Robert A. AndrewsRobert A. Andrews, MD, FACS

Medical Director, BID-Milton, Weight Loss & Metabolic Surgery Section of Minimally Invasive & Bariatric Surgery BIDMC/BID-Milton/BID-Needham, Instructor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School

Education:
Dr. Andrews received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then completed his surgical residency at New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital prior to completing his fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Awards and Honors:
Dr. Andrews was the 2009 recipient of the prestigious John O. Vieta award for compassionate care, and has received numerous awards for teaching. He received the Milton research grant from Harvard University in 2010.

Surgical Groups:
Dr. Andrews serves on the following groups:

  • Patient Safety and Outcomes Committee for the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES)
  • Surgical Simulation and Team Training Committee at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Both committees are dedicated to improving patient safety and outcomes through education and early intervention.

Benjamin E. Schneider, MD, FACS  

Weight Loss & Metabolic Surgery Section of Minimally Invasive & Bariatric Surgery BIDMC/BID-Milton/BID-Chelsea, Instructor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, Program Director Weight Loss Surgery Fellowship

Education:
Dr. Schneider received his medical degree from University of Colorado School  of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at University of Iowa and a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  

Awards and Honors:

  • Selected to the Academy at Harvard Medical School (2005)
  • Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) research grant (2003)
  • Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (2002)
  • Selected to Boston magazine’s “Top Doctors” list (2010, 2011, 2012)
