Surgical Services

If your physician determines that you need surgical care, he or she may schedule your surgery in the operation room. Many surgical procedures are done as ìday surgeryî, meaning that you will go home on the same day as the surgery. If you do require an overnight staff following surgery, your physician will explain the anticipated length of stay during recovery.

Surgical Services
Improvements to the Surgical Services Department include the addition of two new operating rooms and the complete renovation of the four existing operating rooms. The result: a six-room state-of-the-art Operating Suite. The suite will include our cutting edge robotic surgical tools, including the Navigator System for minimally invasive hip and knee replacements and the South Shore's only da Vinci System for minimally invasive urological and gynecological surgeries. Private rooms will expedite "day-of-procedure" interviews and new perioperative bays will be configured for the privacy and comfort of visitors and family.

Endoscopy Center
Last year, BID-Milton performed more than 2,500 endoscopies. As the population ages, demand for these important diagnostic and therapeutic procedures will double that amount.

The new Endoscopy Center will triple the size of the existing facility. Partially opened in October 2007, patient volume has already risen dramatically as a result of these new facilities. When complete, the Endoscopy Center will house four large procedure rooms and twelve perioperative rooms, allowing patients to have their diagnostic procedures in a quiet and comfortable setting. The Endoscopy Center will feature a private waiting area and a dedicated reception area.
