Rest Easy. Sleep Treatment is Here.

In partnership with Neurocare, Inc., Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton offers a sleep medicine program to assess patients while they sleep, diagnose sleep disorders, provide treatment and support patients with sleep disorders.

It is estimated that 50 to 70 million Americans suffer from a chronic sleep disorder that may adversely affect not only their quality of life, but also their health and even longevity. If left untreated, sleep disorders can place individuals at greater risk for certain life threatening disorders such as heart disease, stroke and hypertension.

Our sleep center offers a full range of diagnostic testing for a variety of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and sleepwalking.

Patients are referred for sleep studies for a variety of reasons with the most common cause being sleep apnea.  Patients often experience heavy snoring, are witnessed having interruptions in breathing and/or have extreme fatigue during the day.  The studies are conducted by a sleep technician, who closely monitors EEG and EKG activity while monitoring video and audio feeds from the sleep rooms.  The studies are then scored and subsequently interpreted by the Board Certified Physician.  Depending on the findings, equipment such as a CPAP or BiPAP may be utilized to help improve the patients sleep.
