Construction Impact
Milton Hospital is committed to delivering state-of-the-art facilities while fully preserving the integrity of on-going hospital services. The hospital has selected Walsh Brothers as construction manager on the project, based on their demonstrated experience building highly complex facilities on active hospital campuses. Working together, the hospital and the Walsh Brothers team will implement phased construction schedules and carefully coordinated site management plans to ensure the least possible intrusion to patients, physicians, staff and visitors during construction activity.

Project completion is anticipated during the Summer of 2008.

The Emergency Department reconstruction, which will account for 23% of the overall project cost, will focus on the specific needs for a state-of-the-art triage center that will effectively serve the simplest to the most critical emergency cases. The redesigned space, double the size of the current emergency room, will be patient-friendly and staff-efficient. New examination rooms (15 - 17 private rooms) will ensure patient safety, comfort and confidentiality.

A new valet entrance and lobby will be designed to better orient visitors, making it easier to find one's way through the hospital. Once inside, visitors may enjoy a comfortable waiting area flooded with natural light and a coffee and refreshments counter.

It has been twenty-five years since Milton Hospital instituted major facilities renovations and additions. Changes in patients' needs, a growing patient population and advancements in medical technologies require that Milton Hospital keep pace. Patient services have been increasing 3% to 5% annually in recent years with more than half of the patient population seen as outpatients. When complete, the project will meet the community's immediate needs for in- and out-patient care while ensuring flexibility for the future.
