Milton Hospital Dedicates Building to Renowned Physician

Milton, Mass. -Milton Hospital dedicated its three story medical office building in memory of Edward M. Lintz, M.D., and internist and member of the hospital's medical staff for 25 years, in a ceremony attended by more than 100 physicians, colleagues, family and friends.

The event kicked off with opening remarks by hospital president Joseph Morrissey, followed by comments by Geoffrey Wickwire, M.D., a colleague of Dr. Lintz' at the practice he founded, South Shore Internal Medicine Associates, Inc. Bruce Alexander, a member of the hospital's board of directors, unveiled the memorial plaque while senator Brian Joyce presented the citation.

Dr. Lintz was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1940. After graduating from Georgetown University, he received his Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University, followed by training at Georgetown, Tufts New England Medical Center and Boston University Medical Center. He was Director of Medical Education at Carney Hospital before joining the US Army, in which he served as Chief of Cardiology at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Ed Lintz arrived at Milton Hospital in 1975, full of ideas and enthusiasm. He soon founded South Shore Internal Medicine Associates. For many years, he led the hospital's physician recruitment efforts, oversaw the growth and enrichment of the medical library, and as Chief of Medical Education, frequently invited speakers to share their expertise with Milton physicians. Dr. Lintz was instrumental in the construction of the medical office building that was dedicated to him.

Many remember Dr. Lintz as a "cheerleader" for Milton Hospital. He was known to drive prospective doctors around town and sell them on the virtues of living and practicing in Milton. He encouraged the staff and administration to always seek the greater good of the hospital, whether by enhancing the physical plant, investing in new technology, or spending a little more personal time with a patient. He viewed each patient as a person with a unique story to tell, and not just someone with an illness.

Dr. Lintz's medical practice, South Shore Internal Medicine Associates, Inc., now occupies the third floor of the Lintz Medical Office Building. The full service practice includes Geoffrey Wickwire, M.D., Jon Cronin, M.D., Mark Hodgman, M.D., Peter Martens, M.D., Kenneth Harris, M.D., Scott Lutch, M.D., Patricia Stewart, M.D., and Dena Ackroyd, P.A.-C.
