Milton Hospital Launches Community Outreach Program at the South Shore Plaza
MILTON, Mass. - Milton Hospital is proud to announce a year-long community outreach program at the South Shore Plaza. Beginning April 4, events will be held on most Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm at Milton Hospital's "Health Stop" seating area, located on the mall's first floor, next to the center elevator.
In addition to health and wellness and other hospital-related events, the "Health Stop" will offer health and hospital literature on a daily basis. Blood pressure screenings will be held on the first Saturday of each month.
During the "Opening Day" celebration on April 4, nurse managers Gail Cardoso and Terry Moreno will be offering blood pressure screenings and medication reviews at the hospital sponsored seating area. The living room like set-up provides an inviting seating area, which will serve as a place for mall patrons to relax and learn about health issues and tips.
"We are excited to begin this outreach program," said Joseph Morrissey, president of Milton Hospital. "Every time a community member interacts with the hospital, we are in a position to educate them about their health. We hope this year-long program will promote a better understanding of common health and wellness issues by providing a great opportunity to educate the community on healthy living and how to be an active participant in their overall well-being."
In addition to the regular Saturday programs, members of the Geriatrics Program will offer health information and blood pressure screening to the Mall Walkers, a group of seniors who walk the mall for exercise every morning.
The schedule of events will be updated on a regular basis.
The schedule for the first month of the program is as follows:
April 4, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., Opening Day - Blood Pressure screening & Medication Reconciliation cards
April 11, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., Spring Celebration - Hospital administration will be handing out tulips and information for the "Taste of Spring" event
April 18, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., National Volunteer Week - Registration for volunteer activities
First Saturday of each month, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. - Blood pressure screenings
