BID-Milton Appoints Peter J. Healy as New CEO
Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton announces the appointment of Peter J. Healy to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
With over twenty years of leadership experience both at community and teaching hospitals, Healy will join Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton in August from Boston Medical Center, where he currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer of the Faculty Practice Plan and Vice President of Professional Services. Prior to his eight-year tenure at BMC, Healy was employed by Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain for 15 years.
“Peter is an experienced and committed healthcare executive with an impressive track record of successful leadership,” said BID-Milton Board Chair Michael Brady of Milton. “His experience working in both an integrated healthcare system and in a community hospital setting will provide BID- Milton with the necessary leadership to thrive and remain vibrant in this highly competitive healthcare environment.”
Healy succeeds Joseph Morrissey, whose ten years as CEO ended in December 2012. BID-Milton Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer Doris Sinkevich has served as Interim CEO during the executive search process.
“I would like to sincerely thank Doris Sinkevich for her proactive leadership as Interim CEO over the past seven months,” said Brady. “Doris’ commitment to the mission of BID Milton; providing the highest quality care with a compassionate touch, has been evidenced throughout her tenure. Through the transition she has maintained management’s focus on delivering on our growth and financial objectives for 2013. I am deeply grateful for her outstanding service to BID-Milton.”
Healy was selected by the hospital’s CEO Search Committee, comprised of Hospital Board members and physicians. The hospital contracted with executive search firm Phillips, DiPisa and Associates of Hingham to facilitate the nationwide recruitment effort.
“I strongly believe that BID-Milton has adopted the right model for healthcare delivery,” Healy said. “With its connection to a strong academic medical center like BIDMC, BID-Milton’s patients receive great care at the right place and at the right time. I am very excited about the opportunity to lead such a well-positioned community hospital.”
Peter earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH, and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH. An Ohio native, he currently resides with his family in Westwood, MA.
